Always One Step Ahead
770 cm long, 240 cm wide, and 240 cm high: Elements of a packaging machine line are not only bulky but also quite heavy, with a total weight of 35,000 kilograms. However, at Skyline Express, we love challenges and have found the right solution for this task as well. Months of planning preceded this, during which we coordinated with the customer – a well-known mechanical engineering company from OWL – and cleared all the customs papers and other formalities. The packaging machine itself also had to be properly dismantled and prepared for shipment.
Then the time had come: the pickup at the customer's site was carried out with our crane systems and no less than four trucks from our Skyline fleet, which transported the cargo safely and on time to the destination airports. Upon arrival, the packages were loaded for the flight to the USA. Special noseloader aircraft, such as the Boeing 747-400F, were used for this purpose. The advantage: these aircraft models feature a nose that can be lifted at the front, allowing the entire forward section of the aircraft to be raised. This creates a particularly large access to the cargo hold, enabling even extremely bulky goods to be loaded that would not fit through the side cargo doors. Another advantage is the reinforced cargo hold, equipped with rails and rollers, where heavy goods can be safely transported and moved. All in all, a project that required a great deal of logistical skill and one that brought us a lot of joy!
