Growing together
Glasline Logistik becomes part of the Skyline Group

17 July 2023 - Logistics solutions from Lippe are in demand worldwide. Because with Skyline Express, a company exists here that offers holistic logistics services from land transport to air transport and sea freight. With a stake in the Detmold transport company GLASLINE LOGISTIK, Skyline Express now has its own fleet of vehicles. This offers customers even greater flexibility and independence.

Delivery bottlenecks, pandemics and the war in Ukraine: the logistics sector must constantly master new challenges. At the same time, the demands of customers who depend on efficient and high-quality logistics solutions worldwide are growing. "Until now, we have coordinated transports via German and international partners," explains Volker Sim, founder and managing director of Skyline Express. At least in land transport, this is now to change, because: "Compliance with legal requirements worldwide and the lack of qualified drivers and carriers should have no influence on the quality of our transport services. On the contrary: we want to offer our customers even more individual solutions and genuine independence from external service providers."

Logistics from Lippe: A clear statement for the region

With GLASLINE LOGISTIK, they have now found a transport company that meets their own high standards and optimally complements the service portfolio of Skyline Express. "Lippe is our home and will remain so in the future," says Volker Sim. "I am all the more pleased that GLASLINE LOGISTIK is rooted in the region just like us." Founded in Detmold in 2020, GLASLINE LOGISTIK has so far specialised in the transport of glass.

The company's fleet is thoroughly modern and is set to take on new tasks such as distribution in East Westphalia-Lippe or long goods handling in the future. "Skyline Express is excellently networked far beyond the region," emphasises Ingo Schultheis-Gold, operational managing director of GLASLINE LOGISTIK. The participation therefore also makes sense from an economic point of view in the long term. After all, challenges such as the shortage of skilled workers can only be solved together. In future, the company will operate under the name Skyline Logistik GmbH. The company's headquarters will remain in Detmold. "With the investment and the change of name, we are taking an important step towards a joint future," says Ingo Schultheis-Gold. "Our young team is looking forward to becoming part of the Skyline family and growing together."

About the Skyline Group

Founded in 2000 in Lage, Lippe, Skyline Express has developed into a specialist for sophisticated transport solutions. Project loading within the framework of freight transport is just as much a part of the company's service portfolio as customs clearance, warehousing and order picking or hazardous goods management - by air, sea or land. In addition to predominantly medium-sized companies, well-known corporations such as Lufthansa and Hapag-Lloyd AG are also business partners who rely on the experience and expertise of the 49-strong team. In East Westphalia-Lippe, the Skyline Group currently has around 20,000 square metres of its own logistics space as well as a further 10,000 square metres of land for further expansion in the region.
